Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a charming and bizarre indie game by Steam Works. You play an octopus trying to pass himself off as a human being. Yep, this is a game that will divide players into "love" and "hate" camps. That's the cost of being uniqueThis bizarre set up lends itself to strangely hilarious scenarios that are also somewhat disturbing.
You must navigate through the game using unwieldy tentacles that have their own physics and tend to attach on to all manner of objects as you work your way through the various levels (grocery store, aquarium, wedding hall etc.). This leads to a lot of sight gags and visual humor.
The awkward plot puts you in situations where you have to perpetuate the illusion that the octopus is actually a human being, and you must deceive the characters wife and family into believing this. Creepy? Yes. Fun? Yes.
At only about 15 dollars this is a fun game to try out, if only for its novelty and uniqueness. You might be surprised and fall in love with it. It is becoming a cult classic and perhaps we will see more of Octodad in the future.
